Electronic Arts Online Drives Racers Wild with Its Officially Sanctioned EA SPORTS NASCAR Web Racing Game
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2004--NASCAR(R) fans will rev up and race to the finish line with the launch of EA SPORTS(TM) NASCAR(R) Web Racing, the only free NASCAR-licensed racing game on the Web. Produced by Electronic Arts' (Nasdaq:ERTS) online division, EA SPORTS NASCAR Web Racing allows players to choose real NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers, such as Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson; official stock cars; real NASCAR tracks (Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway); and real NASCAR elements, such as drafting, passing and pit stops. EA SPORTS NASCAR Web Racing is FREE for all online racing enthusiasts at http://www.easports.com/free/.
The game's top-down view gives drivers greater track vision, and its forgiving controls provide racers with the best chance to prove their mettle and go for the win. Additionally, the game offers an exceptionally realistic on-track experience. Players will see cars spinning across the track, tires skidding in smoking trails, and engines bursting into flames. Other game features include:
-- Real drivers (Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Dale Jarrett, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Kevin Harvick)
-- Real tracks (Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway)
-- Real NASCAR action, such as drafting, passing, pit stops and car damage - factors that ultimately affect racing ability
-- The ability to form alliances and create rivalries with opponents on the track
-- Two game modes: "Single Race" mode for a quick race, or "Season Mode" for a full season based on a point system, culminating in the "Championship Series"
-- Several optional help features to improve driving and chances of winning
Players also have a chance to win prizes by earning EA Online tokens when they place in the following categories - Finish, Best Time, Low Fuel Bonus, and Difficulty Modifier (information regarding prizing can be found at http://play.pogo.com/prize/prize-rules.jsp?site=pogo).
